Case Study
This project for the H Family formed part of a contemporary new build creating two new living spaces: a lounge and a snug open to the kitchen. Both rooms were designed to accommodate wood burning stoves, requiring early coordination with the build programme to ensure all flue, ventilation, and structural requirements were integrated during construction.

New Build
Dual Wood Burning Stove
Twin wall flue with external air provision
In the lounge, a new chimney breast was constructed within the new build to accommodate a concealed flue system and create a clean, architectural finish. The installation included a twin wall flue system fitted during the roofing stage, allowing correct flashing and integration with the 40 degree roof structure. A 30mm honed granite hearth was installed, ready for carpet to be run up to the edge, forming a simple and durable focal point within the room. An external air supply was also incorporated to support efficient stove performance.

The snug, positioned within the open plan kitchen area, formed part of a highly airtight home with mechanical ventilation. Particular attention was given to ventilation strategy and external air provision to ensure the stove operates effectively without affecting the overall air balance of the building. Provision was made during the build stage for the flue system and external air connection, ready for completion later in the project.

Our involvement in this project was carefully phased to align with surrounding building works. Initial works from Grandisson included installation of twin wall flue systems, roof penetrations, and external air provisions during the build stage.
Final stove installations were then carried out once the property was nearing completion, allowing for a seamless fit within interiors and ensuring all components were correctly integrated with surrounding architectural details.
